Interested in becoming an altar server?  Watch this short video for an inside glimpse…

The St. Augustine altar server ministry provides parishioners of all ages the opportunity to serve the Lord on His altar. The role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass.  Some of the Altar servers responsibilities are: carrying the cross, holding the book for the priest and setting the altar. We need servers at all of our weekend Masses.  Typically, servers are assigned one or two times a month at Mass times of their preference.  Servers also serve at Holy days, holidays and other special Masses.  The commitment requires servers to arrive at least 15 minutes before the Mass, pay close attention to the priest and help out when called upon.

A two session training class is conducted periodically during the year to cover the servers’ duties before, during and after Mass and to provide the necessary understanding and reinforcement of the many altar server responsibilities during the Mass.

There are several adults in the ministry whose duties include conducting altar server training, preparing quarterly schedules/rosters, sending reminders to those serving each week and recording altar server attendance.
