Once a month, October through March, at the 9:30am Sunday Mass, we invite the younger children, age 4-6, to a special time to hear the Word of God in simpler language and with activities and songs that support the theme of the readings. During the Mass, as the adults are seated for the readings, the children are called forth by the celebrant and gather in the center aisle. They process to St. Rita Hall in the lower level of the Church for approximately 20 minutes where they hear the Word of God, talk about it and pray for the things that are important to them. The children are given coloring pages and other activities that strengthen the message they have heard.
We welcome parents to join in preparing and teaching these sessions. We will meet with you prior to your assigned Sunday to help prepare you. All materials and activities are provided. We welcome this opportunity to share your child(ren)’s faith formation with you in an active and participatory way. Parents usually work in two’s and do only one or two sessions per year. Please consider joining our parent group by speaking to either Bridget Rao or Sr. Madonna.
