The goal of the Helping Hands Ministry is to provide comfort to those in distress due to medical, physical, emotional and financial circumstances.  We do this through  the age-old art of handwork.  We make hats and socks for the homeless, prayer shawls for those who can use our prayers, blankets for children who simply need something to hold.  These are just a few of the things that we create – at our meetings and on our own at home.  The list is endless and the need great.  If you can knit, crochet, sew, use a pair of scissors or would like to learn, we’d love to have your help.  One of our volunteers will gladly teach you.  We welcome helpers of all ages and we actively seek to connect our mature parishioners with any of our parishioners in middle school or older.

Helping Hands meets at the Center for Education and Ministry every Tuesday from 6-8 PM.

Here is the prayer that we include with every shawl we deliver:

Someone is thinking of you. Accept this shawl as our special gift.  Prayers were actually said and have been stitched right into its fabric with you in mind. Through its softness and warmth may you feel the love and support of those who have held it in their hands and worked on it.  May you find strength in its embrace and know the power of His love. The Lord said, “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” The Helping Hands Ministry has gathered to ask God’s special blessings upon you.  May you be cradled in hope, kept in joy, graced with peace and wrapped in love.
