Lent began on Ash Wednesday, February 17th. In unity with Catholics throughout the world, we enter into the season of Lent by spiritually turning back to God through the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Go deeper into the Lenten journey by joining our community for any (or all!) of the parish-wide programs listed below.
We invite you to join in our two parish-wide service projects: the One Heart Lent Program to benefit Cor Unum and Easter Baskets for the children of Lazarus House. We realize that there are a lot of great programs in which to participate and we selected these two based on their ability to provide much-needed support to members of our local communities and their alignment with our parish's own mission of service to others.
Our Religious Education program invites our parish community to join the families in their program in support of providing Easter Baskets to the child clients of Lazarus House. Donations of any of the following may be brought to the parish center Monday-Friday from 9 AM - 2:30 PM by March 29th: easter toys, books, candy, baskets, grass filler, children's socks, coloring books and crayons, face masks and gift cards from Walmart and Target.
Cor Unum - One Heart Program
The One Heart Lent Program directly supports the Cor Unum Meal Center in Lawrence. This is a simple program for the entire family by which 100% of donations go directly to feeding hundreds of people every day. Clip out the label on this flier and attach it to a jar. Make a commitment to sacrifice a daily amount of money to the jar. At the end of Lent, donations are mailed to the address on the label. A program guide provides daily spiritual reflections for the season of Lent. Visit CorUnumMealCenter.org for complete info.

Stations of the Cross
Praying the Stations of the Cross is a centuries-old devotion in the church by which the faithful make a spiritual journey with Christ while He carries His cross on the way to be crucified. It is a devotion that may be prayed at any time, but particularly on Fridays in Lent. While St. Augustine Parish has traditionally prayed the Stations of the Cross communally on Friday evenings in Lent, while COVID-19 protocols are in place, we are pleased to offer this virtual version.
